Don't let "stuff" get in your way. |
The interior of a drawer might not seem like that big of a deal ("Why are we even talking about it," you may wonder), but small spaces can have a big impact on how you feel in your workspace. Imagine sitting down to work and having a great brainstorming moment, but when you open your desk drawer to find a pen and paper, you're confronted with all the old receipts, ketchup packets, Band-Aids, and other various detritus that collected in there over time. You could lose that fantastic idea while searching for the pen and paper! Take everything out of the drawer, sort it by type (pens together, sticky notes together, etc.), and see how much space each category takes up. Then do yourself a favor and find some drawer-dividing bins to put in there (pro tip: use old cell phone boxes or the ones Vistaprint sends with orders of business cards instead of going out and buying more stuff--or, treat yourself to some cute new bins, whatever). Group the categories into the dividers, and voila! (If you want to keep your space this organized, try labeling the bins so you know where things should be put away.) Don't just keep the drawer closed for fear of what's inside: give it a zhuzh for that small win that makes a big difference!
